Martin Defense Group  a privately-owned defense contractor, is seeking an experienced Maritime Vessel Mechanic. The incumbent will join a group of talented Engineers, Scientist, and Innovators with tremendous top-side potential devoted to solving novel technological problems with national defense implications in the fields of Cybersecurity, Autonomy, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Naval Architecture among others. General Description: 

The qualified candidate will be responsible for constructing, maintaining and repairing machinery and vehicles. Your duties will include monitoring inventory, inspecting vehicles, and assembling machinery. To succeed in this role, the qualified candidate should be physically and mentally fit and have a solid knowledge of a mechanic's tools, services, and diagnostic equipment. Our ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, with excellent communication and customer service skills.The qualified candidate will be use best practices and provide subject matter expertise to assist Research and Engineering staff to better understand design and mechanical operations.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct regular maintenance on machinery, systems, and automotive vehicles.
  • Meet with clients to better understand their concerns and identify the issue.
  • Assemble mechanical components according to specifications.
  • Examine machines and oversee diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems.
  • Design a plan of action for all maintenance tasks and upgrades.
  • Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records.
  • Monitor inventory and order new parts when necessary.
  • Offer consultation on maintenance and preventative procedures to machine and vehicle users.
  • Perform vehicle assessments and alert clients on issues that will prohibit their vehicles from passing inspection.
  • Interface with Engineers to ensure specifications are accurate
  • Interface with other Production Personnel to interpret, clarify, and bring comprehension to tasks
  • Ensure conformity with applicable Rules and Coast
  • Guard requirements for boat building
  • Adhere to safe work practices and attend safety meetings as required


General Expectations

  • Email viewing, composing, and sending ability preferred
  • Microsoft Office proficiency preferred
  • Boat Handling and Maintenance capabilities preferred
  • Comprehensive ability to work from plans, specifications, drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to multi‐task, organize and prioritize to meet deadlines
  • Must be flexible in work hours, on call as needed
  • Verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Good attitude; must be a team player.
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle diagnostic equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Daily schedule will be approximately Monday - Thursday 0630‐1600; Friday 0630-1130



  • Must have high school diploma or GED
  • Certification from a vocational school or trade school is preferred.



  • Minimum of 10 years with various marine engines and vessels.
