Martin Defense Group, a privately-owned defense contractor, is looking to add a Systems Administrator to its IT team. This is a full-time day shift position (not a contract) and remote work will be allowed on a case-by-case basis.The incumbent will join a group of talented Engineers, Scientist, and Innovators with tremendous top-side potential devoted to solving novel technological problems with national defense implications in the fields of Cybersecurity, Autonomy, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Naval Architecture among others. The Systems Administrator will provide end-user support and day-to-day IT operations/support. This position troubleshoots and resolves network and system issues, employee computer problems/questions/ issues, manages the help desk ticketing system, performs regular system maintenance, and participates in the management of various new IT initiatives to move the company forward. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

• Serving as tier 2 support for customers seeking technical assistance over the phone, chat client or email.
• Assisting in all aspects of Systems Administration, installation, monitoring, maintenance, configuration, server management, and security management including disaster recovery planning and implementation.
• Performing remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions, determining the best solution based on the issue and details provided by the customer.
• Maintain technical documentation and service catalog on installation of software, configuration of hardware and problem troubleshooting.
• Participate in the development and implementation of IT policies, procedures, and best practices, including architecture, security, disaster recovery, and regulatory compliance and related standards.   
• Administers end-user workstations and supports end-user activities on a mixed operating system environment consisting of Windows and Linux PCs.     
• Investigates user problems and identifies their source; determines possible solutions; tests and implements solutions.   
• Performs and/or oversees software and application installation and upgrades.   
• Develops and conducts various training and instruction for system users on operating systems and other applications; assists users in maximizing use of networks and computing systems.   
• Ensure compliance with regulatory or other applicable contractual or related requirements.   
• Assists personnel of other departments as a computer resource.   
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• 3+ years of IT experience as a desktop technician or junior systems administrator in progressively challenging roles.
• Ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical personnel.   
• Ability to install, configure and maintain personal computers, networks and related hardware and software.   
• Experience with Office 365 Administrative tasks.   
• Ability to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operations problems.   
• Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.   
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.   
• Ability to learn and support new systems and applications in a multi-site environment is preferred.

• Experience with Linux (CentOS and Ubuntu) is a plus.
• Secret security clearance is a plus.
